About your Therapists!

Andrea Leicher...

I am a massage therapist licensed in Hawaii with over 1000 hours of training, from nationally accredited schools like the Hawaiian Islands School of Body Therapies and Kona's Center for Muscular Massage. I specialize in Healing Stone Therapy and Mobile Massage for stress and pain relief, and am honored to offer this incredible gift to you. Testimonials...

My years as an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer and athlete has been invaluable in helping me to understand the anatomy and physiology of the body and in my ability to deal with the many different dysfunctions and disorders that I have been presented with. I offer my clients a natural alternative to other forms of pain/stress relief and assist with the rehabilitative process. I have training in Swedish, Myofascial Release Techniques, Trigger Point Therapy, Lomi-Lomi, Aromatherapy, Deep Tissue, Neromuscular Therapy, Sports massage and Stone Therapy. I am also familiar with polarity, lymphatic drainage, reflexology and cranio-sacral techniques. Most massage sessions that I give combine a variety of these techniques; combined with my palpation skills I have been very effective in treating stress/overuse/traumatic injuries to soft tissue.

My interest in therapeutic massage stems from a love of the art ever since I received my first massage as a worn out cross country runner in high school. I am particularly fascinated with human anatomy and kinesiology, and the relationship between the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies. My ultimate goal is to help my clients attain a deep state of mind and body relaxation and balance the stresses and injuries of life with the nurturing, caring, healing art of massage. I am committed to making a lifelong journey towards improving my knowledge and skills as a healer.

Benefits from massage

Most people know that a professional massage is beneficial, but not everyone knows what exact benefit it brings. First of all there is a wholesome effect on the skin: the massage improves skin respiration, removes the scales of the epidermis. As a result after the massage the skin becomes supple, soft and smooth.

In addition, massage increases the efficiency of the muscles. Circulation increases and the nutrition of tissues improves. As well as massage has a calming effect on the nervous system. A lot of people notice that after a session they feel fresh and cheerful, the warning signs of depression go away and overall perception of the world changes at a more positive.

Also massage improves metabolism. This is achieved by regulating the action on the autonomic functions of the body: blood circulation, respiration, digestion. These measures together provide a more balanced operation of all the systems. Vigorous massage with rubbing, kneading and effleurage especially promotes regulation of metabolism. This increases the formation of degradation products of protein.

To achieve the desired effect it is necessary to comply with certain rules. Massage should be performed on a special table. Typically, a metal structure, made of parts made with using a metal forming, and also it has a special massage mattress. It is important that a person can comfortably lie at a table. Hands of a masseur should glide over the skin, not collecting it in the folds. Receptions strokes are performed slowly and rhythmically. The temperature of the room must be at least 22 degrees Celsius (lower temperature would lead to a cooling of the body and improves muscle tone).

In general, massage is useful to virtually any person regardless of age and sex. So everyone should enjoy it an least once a life.
